Whether it's needed as an analytical laboratory, a cannabis laboratory, or something else, DropBox Inc. offers modular laboratories that are able to be used onsite rather than relying on a tradition chemistry lab. As a result, lab technicians are able to perform their duties and quality control protocols in a remote setting. But what exactly are the benefits of this you ask? Keep reading to find out!

When a customer purchases a modular lab from us, we make sure that it's built to their standard. DropBox Inc. is able to customize the modular labs to provide the ideal workflow in order to meet the demands of each company's current operation. This way, we can provide cleanroom process areas and R&D space that meet the customers' specific needs.

Once a modular lab is completed and arrives onsite, transportability allows it to be placed wherever it's needed and moved again if necessary. After a location for the lab has been determined, it's quickly installed and site ready for connection to power, water, and sewer. Quick installation reduces weather delays, moisture getting into construction materials resulting in mold contamination, and onsite traffic from workers, equipment, and suppliers.

Overall, DropBox Inc.'s modular chemistry labs provide all of these benefits while also being able to be completed in less time than traditional construction. By providing this product to our customers, we are able to save their companies' time and money by keeping them from having to send their materials to laboratories that are offsite!

When companies need a sample to be analyzed, tested, etc., it can cause productivity to decrease due to the fact that they have to send the substance to a lab that's offsite. But what if you were able to just take that substance to a chemical laboratory that was on your jobsite instead? Thanks to DropBox Inc., that thought has become a reality with the creation of the modular chemistry lab.

No matter what your company's specific needs are, both the standard and custom models of the modular lab are built for the demand of your current operation. Each lab is pre-engineered and configured to meet the needs of the specific industry that the lab will be used for. This includes analytical laboratories, cannabis laboratories, and cGMP. As a result, lab technicians can perform their specific tasks onsite rather than having to waste time traveling to an offsite facility.

Finished in about half the time of traditional construction, DropBox Inc.'s modular labs are able to be quickly installed and immediately used on a jobsite. Whether you want yours to be hooked up to existing building connections or function independently, modular labs are site-ready for connection to power, water, and sewer as soon as they're delivered.

Each lab provides cleanroom process areas and laboratory/R&D space that are available as open areas or with specific zones for use separation. But because DropBox Inc. wants to ensure that each customer receives the product that fits their exact needs, our standard offerings are able to be customized in order to provide the ideal workflow for your company.

Overall, DropBox Inc. has created the modular chemistry labs to help increase the efficiency of companies' lab technicians, but the efficiency of their entire operations!

CBD Oil Extraction Techniques: What Happens In An Extraction Laboratory?

Posted on Tue, Aug 06, 2019 @ 10:08 AM

DropBox is continuing its pursuit to become more involved in the cannabis industry. By offering our modular labs, we can provide companies within this industry a place where they can test cannabis and extract CBD onsite. But once these companies have a lab to work in, how exactly do they extract CBD oil from the cannabis plant? Today’s blog will discuss the two primary extraction techniques that lab technicians use for this purpose.

The first, and most common, method that will be discussed is the supercritical CO2 extraction method.

The reason that this method is used so often is because it’s the safest way to extract CBD for human consumption. It's also because its high efficiency results in less waste during the process. However, the equipment that’s used to perform this method is very expensive. The most basic setups can cost around $40,000 to $100,000.

In order to extract CBD using the supercritical CO2 method, the liquid carbon dioxide’s temperature and pressure must be increased past the point where the liquid becomes ‘supercritical’ by using a compressor and heater. Being 'supercritical' means that the CO2 obtains the properties of both a gas and a liquid. This allows the supercritical CO2 to extract the CBD without damaging it and making it dangerous to consume. Next, the cannabis must be placed in an extractor and the supercritical CO2 is passed through it. This allows the supercritical CO2 to pull out the trichomes and terpene oils from the plant. The solution gets passed through a separator and is broken down into individual parts. The trichomes and terpene oils are sent to be collected while the CO2 goes to a condenser and is turned back into a liquid. The liquid CO2 is then placed in a storage tank so that it can be used for the process again.

In order to isolate the CBD, the chemical mixture goes through the processes of chromatography, winterization, and short path distillation. These processes allow lab technicians to remove unwanted phytochemicals, plant matter, and other compounds in order to have CBD in its purest form.

The second extraction method that’s used by professionals is by using ethanol to obtain CBD from the cannabis plant.

The process of ethanol extraction that is primarily used involves heating the cannabis plant to achieve something called decarboxylation. Decarboxylation is when carbon atoms are removed from a carbon chain. Once this occurs, the plant material that remains is soaked in ethanol for a long period of time. After a certain amount of time has passed, the liquid is filtered out of the plant material and left out in the open for the ethanol to evaporate. This removes water and oil-soluble compounds, such as chlorophyll, that can cause a bitter taste.

The downside to this extraction method is that not all of the ethanol can be removed from the CBD oil without the use of another filter. This can lead to the CBD oil losing more of its purity and effectiveness. However, the upside to this method is that it allows for the formation of esters. Since esters are easily absorbed by our bodies, they allow CBD to be easily absorbed by our bodies as well.

DropBox’s Class 1, Division 1 modular lab units have cleanroom process areas and laboratory/R&D space that provide the proper environment for CBD extraction.

Configured to meet the demands of your current operation, both standard models are customizable and configured to provide the ideal workflow. The extraction techniques that we discussed require large, heavy equipment. Our modular labs provide large, durable counters in order for lab technicians to work in a safe environment while avoiding damage to costly equipment. By using our product, companies are able to have an extraction lab that is easily transportable, quickly installed, ready to connect to power, water, and sewer, and finished in about half the time of traditional construction. DropBox Inc. allows lab technicians to perform their duties and quality control protocols in a remote setting!

Dropbox, Inc. Supports Booming LNG Industry with Modular Labs

Posted on Tue, Jul 30, 2019 @ 10:07 AM

As Dropbox, Inc. continues to find ways to solve companies’ needs through our product solutions, there is one industry that we are very excited about getting involved with as it continues to move forward and grow. That industry is the Liquid Natural Gas (LNG) industry.

According to a leading marketing research company called Technavio, the global LNG market will be growing at a CAGR of 6%, and its year-over-year growth rate for 2019 is estimated to be 5.46%. From 2018 to 2023, the market is also expecting to see an incremental growth of $50.22 billion. With the market currently having only a few key players, many companies are eager to join this rising industry in order to succeed.

Some readers are probably asking themselves, “What is LNG, and why is it so prevalent?”

LNG is a non-toxic, non-corrosive, clear, and colorless liquid form of natural gas. Natural gas becomes liquefied when it is cooled to -260°F (-162°C). This allows the gas to be shrunken to 600 times its original volume so that it’s easier to ship and store. It’s also safer than its gaseous state because it’s unable to ignite while it’s liquefied unless it’s mixed with oxygen in a 5% to 15% ratio and combined with an ignition source of at least 1000°F. Once the LNG is placed where it needs to be, it’s turned back into gas through the process of regasification. Businesses and homes use natural gas for heat or to produce electricity.

The popularity of LNG is increasing because it’s not only cost-effective, but it’s environmentally-friendly as well. Transporting natural gas requires more space, and it can’t be stored in large quantities. LNG only takes up 1/600th of the volume of natural gas. Therefore, it would make more sense financially to liquefy natural gas because it can be shipped in larger quantities and makes shipping to long distances less expensive. Environmentally speaking, LNG is the cleanest fossil fuel compared to coal and oil because it produces less emissions and pollutants.

Dropbox Inc. offers modular labs that will provide LNG producers and consumers with the proper environments for upstream, midstream, and downstream energy services

Our customizable, modular labs are fully equipped to meet the specific needs of the producers and consumers of natural gas, LNGs, crude oil, refined products, and petrochemicals. Dropbox Inc. is currently working with top natural gas companies such as Enterprise Products Partners L.P. and Marcellus Shale Coalition by providing modular labs for natural gas treating/processing and hydraulic fracturing. As our company continues to modify the modular labs to support the LNG industry specifically, we look forward to the industry’s future successes and our opportunity to help contribute to that success.

Legalization of Industrial Hemp Presents Opportunities for Dropbox Inc. and Modular Labs

Throughout the years, the cannabis industry and anything related to it was viewed as dangerous by the general public due to its negative portrayal in media and reputation within society. However, this viewpoint is changing, and various industries are changing along with it. As more and more people are getting involved with the cannabis industry, there is one specific area that is becoming a driving force: hemp.

It’s important to note that hemp is not the same as marijuana. Rather it is its own strain of cannabis that lacks the high concentration of THC that marijuana has. THC is what causes the hallucinations and delusions that occur from using marijuana. Hemp contains high levels of CBD which has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-anxiety properties. It’s also used to create commercial items such as paint, paper, plastic, and even clothing. Therefore, marijuana is primarily used for recreational purposes while hemp is used for medical/industrial purposes.

Hemp was commonly mistaken as marijuana until the U.S. Farm Bill was passed in 2018.

For many decades, hemp was included in the Controlled Substances Act alongside marijuana and its intoxicating elements. But on December 20, 2018, President Trump signed the U.S. Farm Bill that states that hemp is to be considered an agricultural product instead of a controlled substance. This prevents the Drug Enforcement Agency from being able to interfere with the interstate commerce of hemp products.

As a result of this bill, more companies are now taking part in the extraction, testing, and selling of hemp across the U.S. This requires a greater need for farmland, tools, technology, and more specifically labs. These labs must be able to provide the necessary environment for proper extraction and testing methods of hemp. What is the solution for this?

Dropbox, Inc. now offers Class 1, Division 1 modular lab units that have cleanroom process areas and laboratory/R&D space.

Whether you need an extraction lab, a propagation lab, or a plant tissue culture lab, Dropbox Inc. can meet the demands of your current operation. Both standard models of the modular lab are customizable and configured to provide the ideal workflow. This includes features such as large, durable counters that can hold heavy equipment and an HVAC system to remove chemical gases during certain extraction processes. From design to delivery, we build the modular lab the way that you want it and when you need it. Its turn-key, plug-and-play, and ready-to-use design makes it the best choice for extraction, testing, and much more.

As the cannabis industry continues to grow, Dropbox Inc. is excited and ready to grow with it!

Modular Chemical Lab for Liquid Natural Gas Operations

DropBox Inc. has worked with customers in a wide range of industries around the world. From the construction industry to the military, power generation, refineries, chemical industry and the liquid natural gas (LNG) industry. More recently we have seen a real increase in a need for modular chemical labs for the natural gas industry. Over the past 10 years US production of natural gas has increased by 70% and the US has been the world's leading producer of natural gas liquids since 2010, when US natural gas production surpassed that of Saudi Arabia.

The increased use of LNG for everything from home heating to fuel for fleet vehicles to electric power generation has led to a dramatic increase in drilling operations. Due to this increase in use there has also been an increase in regulations and a demand for the industry to meet strict environmental guidelines. These guidelines often mean that regular testing of ground water in and around the drill site, and testing of the gases extruded from the drill site for refining, needs to be performed.

DropBox Inc. has been there time and time again to meet the needs of our customers in the LNG industry. More often than not, drilling sites and LNG sites are in remote locations that might not always have the needed facilities for chemical testing and lab space. To resolve customers’ needs and create solutions suited to meet their site-specific needs, we have developed a line of portable chemical labs that are climate-controlled and complete with a wide range of lab accessories that can include storage space, cabinetry, counters, fume hoods, sinks, vents, and even restrooms when required. By modifying shipping containers into these portable, customized modular labs, we can quickly and easily deliver a turn-key lab solution to our customers within weeks of receiving a purchase order.

With standard floor plans as well as custom options we are guaranteed to meet your site-specific lab requirements in any climate, any time of the year. For more information on our Portable Labs and all of our shipping container modification expertise CONTACT US HERE or call us now at 740.532.7822.
