Watch DropBox Inc.'s First Ever Time-Lapse Video

For the first time ever, DropBox Inc. has created a time-lapse video of its manufacturing process. A time-lapse consists of taking a sequence of pictures at set intervals to record changes that take place slowly over time. When the frames are shown at normal speed, or in quick succession, the action seems much faster.

In this video, our manufacturing team is creating a modular restroom for a customer in Virginia. You will be able to witness the different steps of the process and the craftsmanship of our skilled laborers in a matter of seconds. To watch more of our videos that showcase products, engineering/manufacturing capabilities, and more, be sure to subscribe to our YouTube channel here

When a standard ISO shipping container arrives onto our manufacturing floor, it must go through a few steps before it's ready to be shipped to our customers. In today's blog, we will be discussing the journey a shipping container takes to become a DropBox Inc. shipping container modification.

Once it's determined what the shipping container is going to be and our CAD department releases the manufacturing drawing set, the cutouts are made and reinforcements are put into place to support doors, windows, or anything else that's going into the cutouts.

After welding and fabrication is complete, the shipping container is sandblasted to prepare the surface for paint or other coatings by spraying sand at a high speed to remove any dirt, grime, and/or rust that may have formed. It's then taken to our state-of-the-art paint booth that has heated air to fully dry or bake in the finished paint. The manufacturing team then begins the internal carpentry, wiring, insulation, interior walls, and plumbing.

Finally, the surfaces, fixtures, electric, and HVAC systems are installed. Then, once the quality inspection is completed to ensure that everything has been done properly, the product is ready to be loaded onto a flatbed or roll-off trailer to be shipped to its final destination.
