DropBox Inc. has been building containerized decontamination showers or Decontamination Stations, as we call them, for abatement groups since 2008. From then to today we have worked with health and safety coordinators on a number of abatement projects to make sure the portable decon showers they get from DropBox Inc. meet site specific needs and OSHA standards. Per OSHA regulations abatement companies have to meet a certain level of safety for workers and to provide decontamination showers adjacent to the site of contaminated areas on a project. Having built decontamination stations from 20', 40', and 45' ISO shipping containers DropBox Inc. has been able to supply both custom and standard units for customers all around the United States.
Using both 40' and 20' designs DropBox Inc. has created the total solution for abatement professionals to stay safe and up to regulations. The typical setup for the Decontamination Station is customizable but the standard units (40' unit pictured above) will have an entrance into the "Clean" room where lockers are located for employees to store street clothes. The room located in the middle is the "Shower Room", and room on the other end of the unit is considered the "Dirty" or Equipment room where employees can remove contaminated PPE, clean out respirators in the sinks, and store fresh PPE for the next days work. Employees will typically enter the abatement area through the unit in the opposite direction as they entered.
With an emphasize on revamping infrastructure in the United States quite a few bridge and tunnel projects have recently gotten underway. On a number of these aging bridge and infrastructure projects abatement groups are often called in to clean up any contamination such as lead, asbestos, and hexachrome as the first step in the process.
In addition to infrastructure projects the Decontamination Station has been used by abatement contractors in refinery and on power plant outage projects an easily deliverable and simple set-up system. These abatement projects and Corrosion Under Insulation (CUI) projects require a high quality, durable decontamination product to remove contaminates and DropBox, Inc. has the solution.
Products like these portable decon shower trailers are essential to any abatement group working in any industrial and commercial setting.
