At DropBox Inc. we know that people are what set us apart from the competition. Our employees and leaders must exemplify integrity and earn the trust of not just our customers but also their teams through their everyday actions. When as a company and as a leader you do this, you set high standards for everyone. When positive energy and enthusiasm for shared goals and purpose are present a deeper connection can be made with your team and with the customers you hope to work with. A shining example within our organization of this energy and enthusiasm comes from our manufacturing floor and our plant manager Isaiah Haynie.
This week I had the opportunity to sit down and talk to Isaiah (or "Zeke" as he has been called since his days as an undergrad at Marshall University) to discuss what drives him and what he sees as the future for Portable Solutions Group, DropBox Inc. and Modular Security Systems Inc.
MD: So Zeke tell us a little bit about yourself and your background?
IH: Well, I'm a West Virginia boy. I graduated from Marshall University and I grew up in West Virginia. I've lived in the Tri-State all of my life outside my experience with the National Guard. I love the area and I love the people and the experiences and opportunities the natural splendor that Appalachia provides. When I'm not hanging out with my wife and 3 year old son I'm in the woods hunting or rock climbing and enjoying the outdoors.
MD: You said the National Guard? Where did you work before becoming a part of the PSG team?
IH: Yeah, I served in the National Guard as a HazMat inspector out of Charleston for eight years between 1997 and 2005 as part of the 130th Airlift Wing and I worked for Veolia Environmental Services from 2001 until I came to work here in 2016.
MD: Veolia Environmental Services? What did you do for them?
IH: I started out in safety and worked my way up to management from there. I supervised a great group of people and did my best to keep all my employees safe and grow the customer base in and around the Tri-State.
MD: What interested you in Portable Solutions Group and shipping container modifications?
IH: I really think it was just my curiosity to discover new opportunities and to learn more about the shipping container modification industry. I'd worked at Veolia with a lot of great people for so long and I learned so much there but I felt like I could use that knowledge to help develop and grow the PSG companies.
MD: What do you think you've learned about shipping container modification that you might not have known prior to coming to work at PSG?
IH: Honestly... Everything. I had no idea so many things could be built from an ISO shipping container. Sure I'd seen a lot of “MILVANs”, which is short for “military van” and is what we called them in the guard and on jobsites while at Veolia, but really I had no idea of the number of products that could be built out of these boxes.
MD: What's one of the most exciting projects you think you've been a part of since coming to work as our plant manager?
IH: The Kazakhstan builds for sure. I mean just the number of units we're building for Tengizchevroil and the fact that we've built them to meet their specifications with regards to their specific electrical components is pretty cool. We've built 50 units for them and they're all up to code and from what I hear very well received by our customer.
MD: What about the most reward project? For you personally?
IH: The most rewarding project for me is the fleet of Blast Resistant Modules that we've built and continue to add to every week. I came from a safety background and to know that the products we build are out there protecting American workers in refineries, chemical plants, and beyond is rewarding for me.
MD: Last but not least what do you think the future holds for DropBox Inc. and Modular Security Systems Inc.?
IH: The sky is the limit. We're doing a lot of very interesting things for some very big customers... We're building battery and inverter systems for natural energy customers – and we just recently built a laser housing module for NASA... NASA… Literally the sky is not even the limit when you've got customers like NASA.
