Modular Chemical Lab for Liquid Natural Gas Operations

DropBox Inc. has worked with customers in a wide range of industries around the world. From the construction industry to the military, power generation, refineries, chemical industry and the liquid natural gas (LNG) industry. More recently we have seen a real increase in a need for modular chemical labs for the natural gas industry. Over the past 10 years US production of natural gas has increased by 70% and the US has been the world's leading producer of natural gas liquids since 2010, when US natural gas production surpassed that of Saudi Arabia.

The increased use of LNG for everything from home heating to fuel for fleet vehicles to electric power generation has led to a dramatic increase in drilling operations. Due to this increase in use there has also been an increase in regulations and a demand for the industry to meet strict environmental guidelines. These guidelines often mean that regular testing of ground water in and around the drill site, and testing of the gases extruded from the drill site for refining, needs to be performed.

DropBox Inc. has been there time and time again to meet the needs of our customers in the LNG industry. More often than not, drilling sites and LNG sites are in remote locations that might not always have the needed facilities for chemical testing and lab space. To resolve customers’ needs and create solutions suited to meet their site-specific needs, we have developed a line of portable chemical labs that are climate-controlled and complete with a wide range of lab accessories that can include storage space, cabinetry, counters, fume hoods, sinks, vents, and even restrooms when required. By modifying shipping containers into these portable, customized modular labs, we can quickly and easily deliver a turn-key lab solution to our customers within weeks of receiving a purchase order.

With standard floor plans as well as custom options we are guaranteed to meet your site-specific lab requirements in any climate, any time of the year. For more information on our Portable Labs and all of our shipping container modification expertise CONTACT US HERE or call us now at 740.532.7822.

DropBox Inc. Provides Wet or Dry Chem Testing in a Modular Chemical Lab

Although instrumentation in wet chemistry testing has shifted to more modern forms, classical wet chemistry techniques are still prevalent in many remote locations, and those classic techniques continue to maintain their importance. Many modern labs that employ the use of wet chemistry testing often require not only a high level of skill, but also the right testing apparatus in the right place at the right time. While analytical chemistry labs are science-based, the ability to provide sufficient modular laboratories for chemical testing can also require a bit of ‘art’ to get the engineering and design specifics for the laboratory just right.

DropBox Inc. continues to provide wet and dry chemistry testing space in
modified shipping containers that can be delivered almost anywhere in the world. Custom-fitted with a wide range of insulation and HVAC packages, the modular chemical labs we deliver can be used in any climate: hot, cold, wet, or dry. Our modular chemistry labs are specially designed to provide the right work space for performing rigorous and wide-ranging chemical testing and examination capabilities while providing a safe, comfortable and fully-functioning space for individuals performing the tests. DropBox Inc. provides modular labs for both qualitative and quantitative wet and dry chemistry testing. Our customizable floor plans, standard models, and wet/dry designs guarantee that regardless of your lab needs we have the turn-key, portable solution for you.

Many of our customers partner with us because their current labs are outdated, they need additional testing space, and/or because they need their lab in a remote location where access to some utilities might be difficult to come by. Our expertise in engineering, designing, and building shipping container modifications has given us the opportunity to work with some of the biggest companies in the world – from Dow, Duke Energy, and American Electric Power to the US Department of Energy and the Department of Defense. DropBox Inc. has provided shipping container modifications of many kinds to many different kinds of companies.

Our in-house shipping container modification experts are ready to offer their assistance in the engineering, design, and delivery of your custom built modular chemical lab today

Update: DropBox Inc. Nears Completion on $2.5 Million DHS Contract

Back in February, DropBox Inc. announced the award of a major contract with the Department of Homeland Security Division (DHS) Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction Office (CWMD). The contract for the production of multiple shipping container modifications known as the On Dock Rail Straddle Portal (ODRSP) is the culmination of a partnership with Savannah River Nuclear Laboratory (SRNL) and the DHS that dates all the way back to 2010. These portals are designed to scan shipping containers that enter US ports for nuclear materials or "dirty bombs.” The prototype ODRSP was delivered to Akin, SC back in 2011.

After years of testing in South Carolina and Virginia, the purchase of these new ODRSP was approved and the contract for their construction was award earlier this year.

A few short months later, work modifying the multiple shipping containers is nearly complete and workers at DropBox Inc. can see the finish line for the project. However that doesn't mean these will be the last ODRSP modules to be built at our facility in Worthington, KY.

John Sturm, Vice President of Engineering, Design, and Risk Management for Portable Solutions Group, parent company to DropBox Inc,. stated, "This project is a great opportunity for our company and I'm excited to see what it will bring in the future.

As the scanning devices and electrical components are installed, visitors from the DHS and SRNL are expected to be at the manufacturing facility in Worthington for factory acceptance testing. Once that initial round of testing is complete, the unit will be disassembled and delivered piece-by-piece for permanent installation at one of the country’s largest ports of entry.

Through engineering, design, construction, delivery, and testing, DropBox Inc. and its employees have played a critical role in this national security project from beginning to end. Robert Slagel, President/CEO of DropBox Inc. recently said, “We have played a part in creating this unique security portal that will help protect our country’s ports of entry, and it's something to be very proud of.”

Shipping Container Modification Prices

Shipping Container Modification Prices

If you want to know how much a shipping container modification costs it's important to first understand that you're going to have a lot of things to consider. There is a wide range of important factors to take into consideration and it's often difficult to determine on your own. Unless you are working with a proven, qualified company that has been in the shipping container modification business for years, an exact figure is going to be difficult to pinpoint.

In order to determine shipping container modification prices within even the slimmest of margins, a team of engineers and design experts will need to be contacted. Here at DropBox Inc. we have that team at your disposal. If you can think it we can build it, because at DropBox Inc. we aren't just thinking outside the box, we're Re-Inventing the Box.

Much like when are going to buy a car, a shipping container modification is very similar in that you really do "pay for what you get.” A quick search on the web will lead you to a number of companies that are selling new and used shipping containers for a wide range of prices. But buying the shipping container itself is only one piece of the puzzle. Prices listed on these sites often do not include engineering, design, site prep, or any modifications you'd like to have done.

When it comes to the actual modification of the shipping container, key questions to consider can include but are not limited to: Will the product need to be engineered? Meet build codes? What about insulation, lighting, electrical requirements, doors, windows, flooring, wall treatments, exterior paint, coatings, or facades?

All of these things affect the cost of a shipping container modification, and each item has its own set of questions when considering cost. For example, you need doors, but what kind of doors? Wood? Steel? How about windows?

When it comes right down to it, pricing a shipping container modification depends on a lot of variables. Exactly what the customer wants and where it's going are major factors to consider.

We hope this information is helpful in your decision to purchase a shipping container modification, and if you have an idea you'd like pricing for we encourage you to CONTACT US HERE or call us toll-free at 740.532.7822.

Portable Solutions Group Major Award Winner for Q1 2019

At Portable Solutions Group (PSG), parent company to DropBox inc. and Modular Security Systems Inc., we work with customers around the world to build portable, turn-key solutions for a wide range of applications. From customizable guard offices with turnstiles, vehicle barrier gates, access control, and climate-controlled guard offices to restrooms, showers, and much more, we take every step needed to provide functionality, deliverability, and the optimization of a restricted footprint and make things happen.

In recognition of all the hard work that we do, PSG has been awarding a quarterly “Major Award” similar to that received by "The Old Man" (Ralphie's dad) in 1983's A Christmas Story. The award is given to employees who go the extra mile to get the job done.

Being open to the imagination of our customers’ needs with consideration to the products we build is a lot of work and requires the attention of a lot of behind-the-scenes folks. While our salespeople, engineers, and designers lead the charge out front, a large group of office staff keeps things rolling and makes sure the ship keeps sailing on down the river.

With those hardworking people in mind, it is with great pleasure that we have awarded the 2019 Q1 Major Award to Donna Vanover-McGlothin. Donna began her career with PSG in 2017 as our Accounts Receivable and Payroll Administrator.

Since coming aboard Donna has worked very hard to help the companies with account balances and accounts receivable and has maintained payroll for our more than 100 employees.

We'd like to take this opportunity to congratulate Donna for all of her success and hard work. Way to go, Donna! Congratulations!

Shipping Container Modifications for Portable Work Stations

DropBox Inc. has established a wide range of customers in the industrial and commercial construction industry, not just in the U.S. but around the world. Everything from containerized restrooms, Blast Resistant Modules (BRM), modular chemical labs, and ground-level workshops have been custom designed, engineered, manufactured, and delivered to meet our customers’ site-specific needs.

At DropBox Inc. we make it a point to listen to our customers and to provide custom shipping container modifications that meet their unique and specific needs.

We have modified everything from the simplest tool cribs to highly customized ground-level chemical labs and portable work stations.

Many of our customers need a portable solution to meet their need for onsite work stations for hose repair, and other work shops for carpentry, water testing and filtration, and welding training and testing. Many of our customers need an enclosed climate-controlled area with pre-installed welding equipment, cutting devices, saws, as well as over-head gantry cranes.

Our 20’ and 40' portable work stations are customized to facilitate onsite work that would otherwise have to be performed off-site with long turnarounds and big bills. The portable ground-level work stations we provide help save our customers time and money because these tasks can now be completed without having to leave the jobsite.

The main advantage of the portable onsite work stations we provide is that they can be placed anywhere and moved easily from location to location. Thanks to the durable nature of shipping containers, our work stations can be climate-controlled and provide an enclosed work space with the right equipment regardless of their destination.

Regardless of your work site needs, DropBox Inc. can provide the portable shipping container modifications you need to get the job done on time and under budget.

If you have a shipping container modification idea, need, or simply a want, do not hesitate to CONTACT US or call 740.532.7822 to speak with someone on our team.
