Throughout the years, the cannabis industry and anything related to it was viewed as dangerous by the general public due to its negative portrayal in media and reputation within society. However, this viewpoint is changing, and various industries are changing along with it. As more and more people are getting involved with the cannabis industry, there is one specific area that is becoming a driving force: hemp.

It’s important to note that hemp is not the same as marijuana. Rather it is its own strain of cannabis that lacks the high concentration of THC that marijuana has. THC is what causes the hallucinations and delusions that occur from using marijuana. Hemp contains high levels of CBD which has analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and anti-anxiety properties. It’s also used to create commercial items such as paint, paper, plastic, and even clothing. Therefore, marijuana is primarily used for recreational purposes while hemp is used for medical/industrial purposes.

Hemp was commonly mistaken as marijuana until the U.S. Farm Bill was passed in 2018.

For many decades, hemp was included in the Controlled Substances Act alongside marijuana and its intoxicating elements. But on December 20, 2018, President Trump signed the U.S. Farm Bill that states that hemp is to be considered an agricultural product instead of a controlled substance. This prevents the Drug Enforcement Agency from being able to interfere with the interstate commerce of hemp products.

As a result of this bill, more companies are now taking part in the extraction, testing, and selling of hemp across the U.S. This requires a greater need for farmland, tools, technology, and more specifically labs. These labs must be able to provide the necessary environment for proper extraction and testing methods of hemp. What is the solution for this?

Dropbox, Inc. now offers Class 1, Division 1 modular lab units that have cleanroom process areas and laboratory/R&D space.

Whether you need an extraction lab, a propagation lab, or a plant tissue culture lab, Dropbox Inc. can meet the demands of your current operation. Both standard models of the modular lab are customizable and configured to provide the ideal workflow. This includes features such as large, durable counters that can hold heavy equipment and an HVAC system to remove chemical gases during certain extraction processes. From design to delivery, we build the modular lab the way that you want it and when you need it. Its turn-key, plug-and-play, and ready-to-use design makes it the best choice for extraction, testing, and much more.

As the cannabis industry continues to grow, Dropbox Inc. is excited and ready to grow with it!
