Posted on Fri, Mar 18, 2011 @ 12:02 PM

DropBox Inc. just finished the construction on a new custom shipping container modification that is intended to be used to support electric power grids around the world. Essentially these units were designed draw power from a grid, store it during low usage hours, and then supply the stored energy back to the grid during times of higher electrical usage. Given the success of the system and the technology these units, manufactured by DropBox Inc., could potentially solve a large number of issues for power grids around the world.

Completely insulated and wired for electric these units are also installed with a fire suppression system, two HVAC units, and four massive 775 KV transformers. Once on site these units will be linked with the other two accompanying shipping container modifications and tied into the grid.

Like all DropBox Inc. projects the latest in iso shipping container modification engineering and design strategies have been implemented to ensure success. Before a single shipping container was cut a full scale 3-D mock up was created along with electrical schematic drawings and snow load requirements were accessed. This unit has been designed and engineered to meet customer specific requirements.
