Bob St. Germain is a Managing Director and Registered Representative with Corporate Finance Associates Worldwide Inc. (CFA). Founded in1956, CFA is one of North America's oldest and most prominent private investmentbanking firms serving middle-market companies. It has recorded thousands of successful transactions since its inception. There, Bob facilitates the merger, acquisition, divestiture, recapitalization, and valuation of privately held businesses with a primary focus on the manufacturing, distribution, and B2B service sectors.
Bob has over 35 years of leadership experience from service in the military; from executive level positions in small to Fortune 500 corporations; and from serving both as an intermediary in a business brokerage and as a Principal at another private investment bank where he started up a physical security practice before joining CFA. His corporate M&A experience included work on acquisitions, divestitures, and joint ventures; participating on a JV board; serving on the sell-side management teams on separate $2.2 billion and $470 million mergers; and dealing with the many challenging post-close cultural and integration issues associated with those activities. Since leaving the corporate sector to exclusively work on M&A engagements, he has conducted both buy-side and sell-side assignments. Bob has taught Strategic Planning at Franklin University in Columbus, OH and regularly gives public and private presentations on various aspects of the M&A process.
He is a Registered Representative with both the Series 7 General Securities and the Series 63 Uniform Securities Agent licenses. His sponsoring Registered Broker-Dealer is Corporate Finance Securities, Inc., an affiliate of CFA.
Bob began his career in the U.S. Army. Commissioned upon graduation from West Point as an Infantry officer before transferring to Special Forces, he served as a paratrooper in command and staff positions within the 82nd Airborne Division, VII Corps, and the 11th Special Forces Group (Airborne) in both the U.S. and Europe. He also graduated from numerous Army leadership programs including: Command and General Staff College, Infantry Officer Advanced, Infantry Officer Basic, Airborne, Ranger, Jungle Operations, Special Forces, and Jumpmaster. He attained the rank of Major.
After graduate school, Bob entered the corporate sector and, over a two decades plus career, developed a broad functional background from roles in Finance, Marketing, Sales, Engineering, and Strategic Planning while at Polaroid Corp., Grumman Corp., Northrop Grumman Corp., Holophane Corp., and NSI, Inc. His international experience was gained from responsibilities for business development in Europe, Latin America, and Japan.
He is a member of the Association for Corporate Growth, the International Business Brokers Association from which he earned the Certified Business Intermediary (CBI) designation, and the M&A Source. Mr. St. Germain earned his Bachelor of Science degree in General Engineering from the U.S. Military Academy and his MBA in General Management from the Graduate School of Business Administration at Harvard University. He is originally from Springfield, Massachusetts and now resides in Gahanna, Ohio with his wife Judy. He is active within the local community and serves on the Board of Directors of the Gahanna Area Chamber of Commerce. He is also a member of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce, the Harvard Business School Club of Central Ohio and the West Point Society of Central Ohio.
