Jerry Journey graduated from Ohio University with a BSME and Masters in 1971. He was an employee for American Electric Power (AEP) for 39 years in a number of positions before his retirement in 2010. AEP is one of the largest electric generating companies in the world. The company has 20,000 employees, generates 38,000 megawatts of power, and has the largest transmission system with over 39,000 miles of network.
As an employee of AEP Jerry fulfilled a number of positions: Maintenance Engineer and Shift Supervisor at Muskingum River; Project Engineer at AEP Canton and was in charge of the furnace replacements at AEP Cardinal and Muskingum River Plants; Maintenance & Budget Superintendent at AEP Big Sandy; Project Engineer for the AEP Zimmer Nuclear Plants conversion to coal; Corporate Engineering Manager over plant engineers and Boiler Reliability Director over the AEP fleet of coal and gas fired units.
Jerry was also the founder and Director of the AEP BRO Forum conference which he managed for 10 years. The BRO Forum is an annual event that brings together AEP employees, utility company guests, and the top industry suppliers to network and learn about Boiler Reliability Optimization (BRO) through technology and processes.
After his retirement from AEP Jerry formed Premier Professional Services which is a consulting firm for Power Generation Companies and Suppliers. These suppliers provide a wide array of products, services, offices, engineering, erection, fabrication, consulting, modeling, inspections, NDE, metallurgy, welding and parts for Power Plants, Gas Plants, Paper Plants, Refineries and Chemical Plants.
Jerry has also been a volunteer for the Nile Township Fire Department; Assistant 4H supervisor for Friendship, Ohio; Assistant Scout Master for Boy Scout Troop 433 Columbus, Ohio and Habitat for Humanity Construction Superintendent in the Columbus area.
He is a member of the Merrill Lynch Advisory Board, EPRI Boiler Reliability Group and other Industry groups. He joined the Portable Solutions Group Board of Advisors in the spring of 2012.
